“Roundtable” discussion with over 100 Central Michigan University students about composing and performing new music

The Michigan Recital Project offers several programs for University or High School Performing Arts programs, which can all be tailored to an individual institution’s needs. These include:

  • “Everything You’ve Always Wanted To Know About a Performance Career But Were Afraid To Ask,” a 90-minute panel discussion about the realities of being a full-time performing musician
  • “Why Performers Should Commission New Music,” a 90-minute lecture about breaking down New Music stereotypes with time for Q&A
  • “Ensemble Performance As a Career Option,” a 60-minute Q&A session geared specifically toward vocalists addressing the changing trends in professional chamber ensembles in America
  • “The 21st Century Musician: Entrepreneurship and Music Business,” a 60-minute discussion of the applications of Business principles for music students

  • Vocal masterclass
  • Strings masterclass/ chamber music coaching
  • Paired vocalist/composer masterclass: specifically addresses the challenges of composing for the voice and collaborating with composers
  • Lab ensemble for composition students: the Michigan Recital Project will perform student compositions live and share feedback
